1. Do you consider yourself to be “English” or “British” (or both), and what does Englishness mean to you? Has the term been hijacked by the BNP/EDL? Is the Church of England an important part of Englishness, like the WI and fish and chips? Let’s have a discussion about what it is to be English, and whether it is even a useful concept.

2. What do you see when looking at a field full of sheep with their new lambs? Is the killing of any animal for food barbaric and should Humanists strive to be vegetarian? Assuming human population growth continues as it is currently, is the farming of animals going to reduce (in view of the food and water supply needed to produce meat)? Or, as naturally omnivorous primates, are we going to continue to devise better methods of production and consider animals as a commodity for our consumption.
